We have a couple of G5 based systems, and I´ll wait to get an Intel until we get our Red.

That said, I would love to play around with a bit of R3D footage, but from looking at the Red Support site, it seems that all software needs an Intel.

Is there not a possibility to view R3D files on a high spec G5?

I don´t need multiple streams or real time effects, just plain viewing and having fun :=)

I seem to remember having read somewhere that there was a plug-in for QT, but now of course I cannot find it. (I did try searching for "G5" on the forum here, no result. Also tried redwiki.org, also ziltch there.)

If you can get someone to convert it to a non-Intel codec for you on an Intel machine, you can play with it. That said, playing will not always be fun…

Regards,

Uli
