I am trying to decide which to go with. They both look great, but I wanted to know if the arri will work with the 18-85 because it needs the 15mm to 19mm adapter (will there be enough room under the lens).

Any thoughts.

Yes it will fit. Mark from Off Hollywood has pictures of them rigged together. I do as well if I can find the darn things.

zak, what are the different applications?

Any thoughts.

MFF-1 is a manual FF
Viewfactor FF is a motorized FF (INCLINO digital motor + IMPERO controller)

so if you need a manual FF the MFF-1 is the one you need
but if you need a motorized FF the VF system is the one you should buy
:bye2:

There is an old adage that comes to mind here, an anacronymn called KISS, for Keep It Simple, Stupid. A mechanical follow focus is a simple gear that is a direct and tactile interface to the focus ring of a lens. There is a purity to this that can only be mucked up as the connection becomes less direct.

Did you know that nuclear subs still have fairly simple, straightforward knobs and handles for controlling the control surfaces of the craft? In the heat of battle, if the simple, direct, intuitive and tactile method is the one you've always trained on, then you'll be performing at your best even as all the high tech systems suffer failures.

KISS works as much as it can ever be preserved. That said, I think that a remote focus device can be quite handy at times. But I would never want it as my standard, primary system.
