Hey all,
First post on here and I have to say, some of the threads on here. The things redusers will do to help other users. It's beautiful!

I was wanting to try and network with users who work in the education space and share a dialogue around how that process is going?

My work at the moment is to repackage academic's research into visual assets for learning and promotion as well as archiving events and guest talks.

One of the biggest challenges with this is the continual education process undergoing with each client/academic in order to define with them what makes for an engaging and interesting visual presentation/learning object.

It's only with the way the internet has grown and the price of media equipment getting cheaper that this form of teaching has become possible, however it is still quite new and experimental. Most of my clients are still having difficulty in synthesizing their ideas and information and even removing concepts that are not best served in a visual form.

I am currently building up a small package to help get my clients in the right mindset for video. Most of this so far is the general production process and tips on being authentic to camera, however I feel I need to build more help in the pre-production stage in terms of constraining and challenging them to think differently about delivering their information. It's really hard as most have learnt the same concepts in traditional modes.

I personally think the greatest visual learning form is the documentary, however some of the best ones I know are not just a mode of delivering information, they infuse a narrative that generates empathy and engagement and I really think anyone with the right people behind them can create learning video at this higher-art level. It might just need some time...
