I know, the Red is not this kind of camera, but I wanted to use my redone to complete a 4 camera TV panel (3 JVC GHHD200 plus a red camera).
All the JVC have a full YUV component output, and I though the HD SDI of the Red could be convert into YUV too with a black magic SDI to analog.
The Blackmagic works fine, but I can't get a good output (25 f/sec - full screen) from the RedOne. If I connect at the same time the EVF and the monitor, I have "nearly" a full screen output (I have a kind of safe area still) and I have a lot of stutter when something move.
Do you know some tricks to avoid these troubles ?

Try to actvate "open Gate" this should give you a smoother output, but you won´t get rid of the safe area, this area will only dissapear in playback since it´s not recorded. I´d rather go for another JVC Camera, than mixing a RED in between, the Preview output is not what the camera is famous for.

What is "open gate" ? Never saw this option in the menus.

That is what I will do. It should be fun to use the RedOne instead these toys.

"Open gate" is in the Viewfinder Menue but only affects the "life" outpu, it won´t work at playback.

From the Users Manual:
Open Gate: lets the camera preview images at 48Hz (50Hz) update rate when operating in
23.98 or 24.00 fps (25 fps) Project Frame Rates. In record, all monitor path images will be
viewed at 48Hz, but recorded at 23.98 or 24.00 fps (viewed at 50Hz, recorded at 25 fps)

Note: Use Open Gate with caution. Due to the doubling of sensor frame rate relative to
capture rate the following operational restrictions should be noted.

- Open Gate is not available in Varispeed or Ramp modes.
- Open Gate is not available for 50.00 or 59.94 Project Frame Rates.
- Video Genlock may not be available when operating in Open Gate.
- 360-degree shutter is not available when operating in Open Gate.

Note: When deselecting Open Gate mode, it is normal to observe up to a 3 second dis-
ruption in the RED-EVF display.

Make sure your HDSDI output frequency is set to 50.00Hz and not 59.94Hz. You may need to cycle the test pattern to get it to switch.

Thank you very much !

It is much more smoother now. But still have the underbox around the screen wich I think can't be removed.

Thank you,

The good frequency was selected. The "Open gate" option made the imagevery smooth. Just 2 or 3 images late, but, I think, 25 f/sec.
