  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

VFM-056WP VS. 5.0'' Touch

Can you power the TVLogic off a D-Tap?

Yes. You can either have the cable made, or the official cable is around $85. I used my new TVLogic 5.6 off the D-Tap all last week on my Epic. I was amazed at how little battery power the sucker used. We would go through 4 v-mount batteries for 12 hours of shooting (with not turning the camera off much) and that was powering both the Epic AND the TVLogic!

Do you have the link to the official cable?

We have the TV logic, it's great... small, pin sharp, self powered... great for running back to client with a longer BNC cable...
but my only compliant outside... is it's not bright enough. inside not an issue... but outside.. dim !

here is a PRO for the touch screen I posted on another thread... just food for thought.
....
The Touch screen is just a good little on board monitor powered by the camera... don't use it as a touch screen then? just use it as a monitor?
But once you start using it as a touch screen you will quickly find how quick it is to flaick through menus... adjusting speeds, colour, kelvin, etc etc in seconds....

We do a lot of huge shoots with way to much camera gear on set... Sometimes the EPIC has so much gear attached to it, it looks ridiculous. Sometimes the camera assistants like building monsters...
But what I like to do is strip it down to nothing and the 5inche being part of that nouthing... It does make for very quick shooting with little to no stress...
You cannot get the EPIC or SCARLET any smaller or easier without the touch screen.

Plus its good for when your running around doing low shots, keeps your rig small and solid... know after maker screen flopping around on an arm weighted down with batteries to run it...
Whe n your camera is on a rig, crane, mount or something and you want to keep it small... the screen is solid and swivels and you can adjust settings fast...
We put outs on a motor bike the other day, would have been a real pain with any other monitor other than a 5 Inche RED touch... I could adjust speeds etc while riding... (dangerous but doable)

Personally, I think you need both. :)
