  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

VEO4K-PL Impressions

Lookin good, love the shot at 4:30. Super slow mo is addictive. How did you feel about the transfer speeds of the veo? did you partition the drive to be able to dump and shoot at the same time?

Beautiful shots, is the Veo 4K the same sensor as the Flex 4K? A couple of hours with a Flex 4K handheld is painful, even with an Easy Rig. A compact Flex 4K would be amazing.

Edit: I used the internet

Limitations compared to Phantom Flex 4K

The big difference is CineMag support – a medium much faster than CFast. As with other VEO-S models, CFast has the limitation of having to write to RAM first and then transfer to flash. There is no Run/Stop mode, and neither is there ANY video playback from CFast, as this only works from the RAM. There is currently also NO support for ProRes. Other differences are the 4K video outputs, slightly lower RAM and integrated power outputs for camera accessories.

Transfer speed to CFAST is around 4 times slower than realtime, so pretty slow. But if you set your partitions between 6 (40sec realtime playback) or 12 (20sec) and activate autosave its saving all in the background and in the same time you can make the next shots. This makes it almost forget the slow saving process in the field. A great solution is the 10G network downlink, with PHANTOMfuse you can get data of the RAM in around 70 seconds directly to a Notebook > SSD, ideal for studio environments.
Power consumption is pretty much the same as a RED camera and much less than Flex4K.
