I can get my R1 to hit 120 fps varispeed in 2K 2:1 with no SSD inserted, but when I add a 64GB SSD it reduces me to a max of 100 fps. 2K 16:9 & ANA range from 90-100.

Am I doing something wrong? No matter what, when it comes time to record I get dropped to 90-100 fps.

Try redcode 28 (the lowest bitrate)

it will do, 100 at redcode28 with a 16gig cf, so You should be able to hit the 120 on the SSD

R1 will do 120fps at Redcode 36 in 2K 2:1 and 2K ANA, but only if the media is fast enough eg. Red Drive, Red RAM. See page 47 of Red Operation manual.

Not sure which SSDs will support it, although would have expected 64GB and bigger RedMags to have been fast enough for Redcode 36 at 2K 2:1 and 2K ANA. But R1 has only had support for SSDs fairly recently, so maybe the firmware isn't optimised yet.

I just did a test for 120p redcode 36 on a 640gb RED Drive, works flawlessly. Would have expected the 64gb SSD to handle it though, since SSDs are supposed to be faster and more responsive than physical drives
