  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

V-mount - Switronix or IDX?

Yes, they work (we use IDX batteries with the Switronix plate without problems)... V-Mount is V-Mount, regardless of the plate you use every V-Mount battery will work (as long as the mounting-space it is not physically blocked by other rigging parts [should not be a problem, just to note that some V-Mount akkus, especially the 190WH ones can be quite big])… edit: and as long as it can handle the load (not a problem with the 60W of an EPIC usually, RED One was more demanding)

Just to mention: we don't get the percentage displayed with this plate and IDX akkus on our EPIC (2.0.5 firmware) - but that's not really a problem as the voltage is displayed properly and as the camera will show a warning when the voltage is dropping to a level where you have to exchange it (at around 12v)…

nearly impossible to try every brand so I can't give any warranty - but we were always fine with various sized IDX & Swit models (low and high capacity, various models because we had to rely on rental at some points), we were also fine with cheap relabeled 190WH China V-Mount batteries (although I wouldn't recommend them as they die much earlier, did't last longer then a year before the cells went dead rendering them useless [cheap brands are not really serviceable] - but that's a problem of the batteries, not of the camera - maybe the 90W Spec from the Red One was too heavy load-wise… the EPIC sucks much less power and is a bit more care-free on that part).

I can give you the part number of the IDX batteries we use maybe tomorrow…

Sorry, I can only provide a small iPhone picture right now - but just that you see it is working (attached lens-cap, so no picture but powered up)...
It's our EPIC-X with an IDX Endura 10 (the stackable ones) running on the exact V-Mount plate you mentioned/linked (PRO-X GP-S), mounted on 15 rails.
In our case with the 2B to 1B power adapter cable from RED as the plate was used as a backup for our RED One (long before the EPIC shipped).
Had it running with different IDX model numbers and Swit (190Wh), no problems at all so far (just only voltage-info, no percentage)...

I've never heard of compatibility(whether mechanical or electrical) between our products and IDX. The data pass through is just a matter of a fully wired EPIC plate, and the appropriate battery..... regardless you'd still get voltage.
