V-Mount batteries on plane....what you can and what you can't

[Cristian Mihai]

Hello guys
On the plane along my camera as a hand luggage, can i take also two v mount batteries completely discharged in my hand luggage ?

[Travis Edwards]

You can carry on as many v mounts as you want if they're under 100w, and you can bring two that are between 100-160w: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_or...fo/media/Airline_passengers_and_batteries.pdf.

The TSA theoretically likes it if you cover the contact points with electrical tape.

Actually you can bring 3 x under 160wH batteries. The language reads as 2 spares. I keep 1 on my Dragon plus 2 on a charger. I haven't had any problems flying to Europe or Africa. I print this page and leave it with my gear in case challenged. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security...g/items/lithium-batteries-more-100-watt-hours
