Do you use any? One? On all lenses? All the time?

On my video cameras, the first thing I did was get a good multicoated BW or Hoya and put it on the lens. I don't think I ever took them off.

I'm curious how people go about this with individual lenses. With my AF-100, I had three primary zoom lenses, each with a BW filter on like this one:

On top of which I'd have a mattebox adapter for my Chrosziel to clamp on to.

I've see people do this with each lens in their kit, some none at all.

Any opinions?

After having some night photos marred by ghost reflections from leaving the UV filter on my Canon, I try to remove the filter when I'm shooting at night, just leaving it on for protection between shots. For a movie camera, I only have glass in front of the lens if it is serving a purpose, like ND or diffusion, or I have to protect the lens from stuff flying through the air.
