Adobe After Effects.

There was also some speed ramping I believe.

It all wouldn't have been possible without great planning up front, which is one of the many things Matt Z excels at.

Matt G is correct. All of the effects shots were posted in After Effects. The wipes were rotoscoped masks. Motion blur was added as an effect with ReelSmart Motion Blur to smooth out the wipes.
(the AE internal motion blur wasn't quite getting the desired look). I also did some retiming and speed ramping as well.
