Hi, does anybody know if the data from the red camera's zoom setting is entered into the metadata of the video. I would think you could use this data to better integrate match moving for 3d objects. I don't have a red so I don't know.

no. the lenses don't communicate with the camera in any way.

(yet)

This feature coming soon... With the /i pin and audio board upgrade program. Then of course, you will need a lens with /i support (Cooke and RED lenses).

so I would guess the scarlet would not have this feature available as an upgrade in the future due to its low price point and lack of detachable lens (I think).

i talked to russ anderson who develops syntheyes..
he said he dosn't plan to support the 'i' technology because he felt it dosn't contribute to the tracking as much as you might think....better to let the computer solve the focal lengths....

i know pftrack is ready for it
but this feature is coming to red when the 'i' tech stuff is enabled

but you would only get this data from a cooke or red lens, as far a I know

so I would guess the scarlet would not have this feature available as an upgrade in the future due to its low price point and lack of detachable lens (I think).

On the contrary, I fully expect Scarlet to have full metadata that includes aperture and focal length information.

Anybody with any first hand experience using 3d match moving with an /i lens? I would think it would be definitely useful especially in certain situations and would allow for a lot of the guess work to be taken out of the picture.
