Using other programs for L&T

Can you transcode to the Log and Transfer codec with anything other than Final cut? I see a Prores (LT) option in Redrushes. Will that do it? Can you use clipfinder to go to Redcode native?

Uh... log & transfer happens to transcode footage for you, but that isn't its function.

Transcoding is converting footage from one codec to another.

Log and Transfer is really about getting metadata input with your footage... scene, take, camera and script notes, that sort of thing.

So, the codec that Log and Transfer uses is called ProRes HQ. This is a good default choice for RED footage.

If you know you aren't going to release theatrically, then ProRes is a good choice.

ProRes LT is a good choice for offline editing on resource constrained computers... like a laptop- especially an older laptop.
