  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

User Review: Redrock Micro microMattebox and the Hyson Films X-Mattebox and the RED

Stephen could you grace us with production photos of your RED rig w/RedRock mattebox? That would be sweet.

I'll post some pics this week, hopefully tomorrow. I love this post Steve : ) If you love your AC (which Mr. Pruitt certainly does) you will get the Redrock Mattebox period. It trumps the Hyson in EVERY catagory. I will post pics of the two rigs asap. That way all you fine people can gauge the two matteboxes as much as a pic can allow you to do so.

Dr. Pruitt,

I enjoyed the review! When your done shooting your feature can I borrow your red rock matte box?

Since you are an economist I have no doubt that you can understand it makes perfect financial sense for me:)

BTW your movie footage truly looks outstanding!

Why, Ryan, now that you mention it, you are pretty good AC with those REDs. Funny that I never really noticed that before.

:-)

And Chip. . . what is mine is yours.

:-)

Dr. Pruitt,

You dirty dog, you! Now you have me spending money like I have it.

Because of your review I will be purchasing the RR.

You will force me into bankruptcy if you write a review about the Schoeps mics and Sound Devices 744 & 788!

Sweet!

Can't wait to take "Lewis" & "Clark" out tornado chasing. :) Tornadoes in 4K, very exciting

Hey, I'll lend you my REDs for tornado chasing when you're willing to walk into the very eye of the storm to film them.

:-)

Steve

wouldn't that be a bad idea for both of you??

Nah. . . not for me. Sure, my RED would be DEAD, but imagine how much money that clip would be worth to ME once I dug that 8 gig flash card out of the ruin and rubble that was once Chip's chiseled body.

:-)

Steve

Fear not people, Steve forgot who he is dealing with.

See the tank lookin' thing in the back ground, that is the TIV (tornado intercept vehicle) and it has a turret ontop for a camera or two and can sustain a direct hit from an EF3 tornado:weight_lift: between that and my Iron Man shirt (an extra level of protection) we should be ok.

I don't know who looks tougher. . . the tank. . . or the man.

:-)

Stephen

Here are a couple pics of Stephen's camera with the RR box. Your RR looks pretty tough!

Thanks Dr., this is the thread I've been looking for, and thank you, ChipG, for the RR pics of Stephen's rig. It truely looks sleek and professional. Hyson's site has been down forever now so it's almost like there's only one choice at this price point, and though I always root for the underdog (Go REDWINGS!
:>), hello MMRR! ...ah, RRMM? Yea! I'm off to order now, and we'll see which comes first, the cam or the box!

Glad I could be of help. With a number in the 3300s, it's an absolutely safe bet you'll have the RR microMattebox before your RED. All bets are off with the Birger.

:-)
