Hi there everybody.

I'm in the process of purchasing a RED-One from Red, and am very excited about it. But, there is a problem. The Bomb EVF is backordered for possibly several months.

We MUST have a viewfinder for our kind of cinematography. An LCD monitor will NOT do.

Does anyone know if there are any used viewfinders available for sale, that we could use while waiting for the Bomb EVF to be back in stock ??

Thanks.

And know this - the original EVF is a very fine piece of equipment - very sharp and very bright and very useable.

That's very good to know.

Does RED still sell them, 'cause I can't find them on their website ?

What's the difference between the Red EVF and the Red Bomb EVF ? Are they both color ?

Thanks.

No, Red no longer sells them. Both are in color. I have not used the Bomb to compare, but as I say the EVF is a fine viewfinder. And I am used to Panavision 35.

One difference is you can get an EVF. Try Ketch Rossi. He is a great, relable source and may have one.

Nick Gardner has one for sale right now listed on the "Job/Equipment for Hire" Forum on Reduser. Very good condition, little use.

Thanks, but why would I pay $3,200.oo for a used EVF when I can eventually get a "new" Bomb for the same price?

Thanks, but no thanks.

Supply and demand... Once the BOMB EVF becomes readily available, the market for the original EVF will adjust appropriately. Until then, they will command a premium as there is still very high demand for them from people who can not wait for the BOMB EVF. It makes sense for those that can wait to sell it for the cost of a new BOMB EVF to replace the one they sold.

No, Red no longer sells them.

I believe I asked this in another EVF thread and didn't see it answered; as someone who hasn't kept constantly abreast of RED developments over the last 2-3 years, could someone bring me up to speed as to why on earth the original EVF is no longer sold by RED? It would seem foolish in the extreme to can the original EVF so far in advance of the BOMB being available.
