I have a BT Red One MX & a Scarlet, and I'm wondering what the future holds for used R1 bodies now that Dragon pre-orders have begun?

I like having the ability to use higher frame rates & 4.5k, but I'm thinking I need to pawn off the R1 pronto to maximize my ROI. Especially since that cash will contribute to my Dragon upgrade & additional accessories.

I'm just curious what a R1 body (by itself) goes for right now? I'm wondering if I can end up getting my $4k back (I've heard of them selling for more than that).

One thing I've learned is that there's no point bitching about Red's price drops or BT offerings when you've paid in full. Both of these cameras paid themselves off in no time...but then again I didn't pay in full!

Do you have
projects on which to use your camera? If so, that's the future of your R1.
I am going to use mine... this week, in fact. I would like to buy the newer models and the new system parts. And I will, when they will earn me money.
But right now, the best thing I can do is show my clients why they should let me shoot 4K.. And that BT R1 let me buy into that workflow very reasonably.

If it works, it makes money, it goes out from time to time even just a little bit.
I find it hard to let go.

Whats a better camera under $10,000 ? That you can physically have in your hands today.

The Frame Rate capability gives me the outlook that this camera can still rock with any camera in the world is a total flat out WIN.

Now if you have high dollar bills then I can see getting into something else.
But this cameras not going anywhere anytime soon.

Just think about it, how long has this camera been out and it can still make a highest end motion picture feature 4.5k resolution.

I just wish I had one and paid so little for it.
