  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hi,

First of all i'm not really sure if this is in the right section but let's try.

I'm going to shoot a video of some snowmobiles at night, with lightsuits and some simple LED lights for cars. Here's a short one we made with only gopro's ( it was for a competition and we had to use gopro )

Do you think we have enough lightsources in this video to shoot good quality with the Epic? Or should i go with something more simple, like the a7s?

Thankful for all the help i can get, regarding both lights and settings for the camera to do good low light.

I love this light suit stuff. I think you will be ok. get super speeds or masterprimes, shoot at 1600asa and 360shutter and the lowest compression ratio possible. you might get some interesting streaking from the 360shutter.

thanks for the response. I think i'll only be able to use canon L glasses though. Maybe a RED 18-50 T3 if the budget holds it. What difference will the shutter angle do?

Seems like it puts out quite a nice amount of light.

Your going to get a lot less blown out on the MX/Dragon, If you have to go L lenses, try and get the fastest one you can, 24-70 2.8

Shutter angle is essentially shutter speed, a 360 degree shutter is going to let more light into the camera but will also give you a bit of a streak and blur as its a slower shutter speed.

Have a little read of this -

Where was the go pro one shot? The conditions look amazing.

Thanks for the advice! As it seems right now, i think we'll go with the a7s due to our lack of money and resources for more lighting. All though i heard there are some problems with blue/violet light thats clipping on a7s, and in our case, we got alot of blue/violet light.

The go pro shots are from Sweden. We had perfect conditions for the competition, think we got like 60 cm of fresh snow in like 30h or so.
