USB control between two Reds

I was stoked to hear about this undocumented feature, and a couple days ago I got to try it for myself. Since we were doing 3D tests, I can't even tell you how much easier things were doing master/slave control on both bodies. Especially with the Origo.

I wanted to post my observations during our test. One of the things that wouldn't translate between the two cams was changing the Varispeed settings. That had to be done manually on both cams. Also, a couple of times, the slave camera would lose ALL button functionality on the body so if you needed to adjust a setting, there was no way to do it. As if the camera fully locked up.
Only a reboot would get you back, but you had to be careful...if you restarted the camera with the usb still connected, camera would always power up stuck on the white screen on the back display and never fully boot. Only disconnection of cable seemed to remedy this.

Control is preliminary, we'll take a look at the bugs you identified.

A customer of ours was testing out this function during a prep, and we were very happy to find that it worked fairly well. We didn't run into any of the mentioned above.

Also, it would be nice if the USB passed on TimeCode info as well, that would make the feature fully rounded out. I think everyone has one of those USB cables around (even if you have to steal it from a printer) so if you could set all functions and Slave TC as well, it would be even better than it currently is.

Any idea if this is possible?
