Hi,

Looking to speed up my workflow (transfer speeds) and keep my trusted old, but still fast and upgradable Mac Pro 2012, and I also have a MacBook Pro with Thunderbolt 2 and USB 3.0.
If I am correct, it is possible to install a USB 3.1 card and it works well in macOS Sierra?

For now I am using some raids and external disks that has both usb 3.0 and thunderbolt to transfer and edit stuff on the road and at the office with the Mac Pro.
I am considering to install a 10 GB ethernet card or a much much cheaper USB 3.1 card.

Will there be a big speed difference working of a raid connected to my mac pro either with USB 3.1 or 10GB ethernet in the real world?
I know that you will be able to work from different devices at the same time with the ethernet solution and that you have a much greater distance between the devices.

The plan is to use the same raid sometimes through Thunderbolt 2 with my MacBook pro and either USB 3.1 or 10GB ethernet with my trusted Mac Pro.
