  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

USB 3.0 support for upcoming REDstations ?

Don't care which method, but give me a Red Station that will directly offload my 1.8" Red SSD onto a 2.5" HDD or standard SSD without having to use a computer as the go-between.
Would LOVE this also! What would be even better is being able to put two drives in at once (in RAID1 config) to get instant double backups.

Cheers from Tokyo,

Paul :)

+1 on the two slots.

There are USB3.0-to-eSATA adapters/dongles for like $20... Not sure if it'd be worth having to upgrade an entirely new redstation ($250, right?) for that...

...on the other hand, having a REDstation with a SATA/power connector to duplicate in the field would be pretty handy. I wouldn't limit it to 2.5" drives though; better off just having the SATA and power ports on the side/top so you can plug in any sized drive (1.8", 2.5" [9mm or 12mm tall], or 3.5") you have available. Just sayin' why limit yourself to only 2.5"?

Would you really trust a blind backup of your card? wouldn't you end up using a computer to browse and verify your backup before wiping the SSD? On paper the idea is pretty cool but in practice may prove ineffectual. Give me thunderbolt with the ability to daisy chain and I'll be good.
