Hi chaps!
URGENT UPDATE !!! My WC DSMC2 TOP PLATE (no battery board) just started making serious troubles!
Just discovered when I'm pushing/pulling or giving any force to top handle fixed to WC Top Plate (low shot or just carrying camera) - it makes unwanted signal problems (noisy image, artifacts on RED LCD/RED EVF) !!!
Checked contact points - everything looks ok!
4x screws fixed firmly WC Top Plate to DSMC2 body.
I believe the problem related to WC POGO Connector inside TOP PLATE - loosing contact with any pressure applied to the Plate which can lead to RED LCD or EVF damages !!!
Be careful guys as it could be very expensive repair :(

No difference even if Top Handle is fixed on rear of Top Plate :(

Same issue seems to happen with their pogo riser....

Why is this an URGENT WARMING?

have you contacted WC for support? I can't see how losing contact would damage the EVF...are you sure you don't have another issue here?

This is a real problem. The WC top damages the contacts of the top pogo and will create artifacts or lines on your screen. Do not use it.

WARMING = HOT TOPIC?

I do have lines across red monitor attached via WC top plate. Oddly only during boot up so not sure if this is a RED thing or a WC.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of that plate, and save yourself a costly repair. I know from experience.

I have the WC DSMC2 Pass-through top plate (non-revolva) and the quick release WC record trigger handle on my DSMC2 Gemini.

So you are saying any pressure from holding/swinging the camera from the top handle could potentially flex the top plate enough (even though it is secured by four screws to the brain) to bend the contacts of the pogo on the brain where the plate connects?

You are seriously making me consider removing my top plate but so far I have had absolutely no issues and love the added mounting points and fan protection it adds.

Can you please explain the issue a little more clearly. I have heard of the issues of WC top plates in early production but I thought they addressed those within the last year or so? Can anyone else chime in?

I also have a WC pass through top plate on a Gemini and have had zero problems. There are a ton of them out there and the only problems I have heard of have been in this thread. Outside of some pretty sever abuse I I'm not sure how this could physically happen in normal use. Any more info would be appreciated.

Nick

Running the 2nd gen WC top plate with Lemos, no problems.
