Hey everyone, i was on a shoot for a short film yesterday during regular weather at night, in the dark. I got a weird red patch on the screen that looked like the sensor glitching and afterwards it came up 'SERIOUS ERROR detected' and wouldnt even boot up. every time i turn the camera on, the light turns orange and shows a bar of colours and only gives me the option to shut down. the shoot had to end last night with high hopes of continuing the next day. the next day has come and i have been trying for hours to get it to work but the same problem persues. I also live in australia so there is next to support here. i've attached a few photos, this has happened once before in the midst of shooting a band but was fine the next day. please help, i require a RED tonight and am running out of options!

Have tried taking apart the side handle, will try detaching the SSD module, also tried attaching a firmware update to the SSD, still shut down as per usual :(

Have you tried holding the On/Off record button to reset the camera to default settings? Perhaps that might reset a setting that got accidentally changed and is now causing issues.

May want to try downloading/installing a previous firmware as well if the problem persists.

I've seen this message before on my buddies epic, I lent him mine to finish his last 3 days of a feature, and he sent his to California to be fixed. Best to send a log to red and get the camera in.

Once a sensor problem rears its ugly head, it doesn't resolve itself. Drop a ticket and find a backup body. I've had a sensor fail, and there is no resolution besides getting it back in RED's hands asap.

Thanks to everyones support here, this truly is an amazing community and i appreciate every single response here!
Cheers for the kindness Owen, unfortunately i'm located in Melbourne, but if i'm ever working over there and have a problem, i'll remember Driftwood!

As an update, I've sent a ticket in and the tech team checked the log files and came back letting me know it was due to "multiple hardware problems"

Well shit.

My question to you guys is, after buying this second hand 3 weeks ago, these problems were present ever since the day i unpackaged it, i assumed because i was using old canon lenses that the problem was due to the lneses not being completely compatible and decided to wait it out till i got my new Zeiss compact prime 2 set. after i did manage to get it, the same problem was there and obviously i found out there was a hardware issue. in your opinion, should i fork out the likely expensive repair costs? Or am i within my right to request the repair costs of the seller for giving me a faulty camera?

appreciate the responses guys! enjoy your week.

It would depend on the deal you worked out with the seller. Did the invoice say "As is," "All sales final," or "No refunds," or did he offer a warranty, and if so, what was the duration of the warranty?

And if you did not work out these details with the seller (you should have!), then you absolutely should still contact him and ask to come up with a fair way to resolve the issue.
