I encountered a problem with the Red camera on a shooting. The camera worked fine during the whole night, when everything was ready to re take the sequence, I turned on the camera and the LCD panel on both the camera and LCD screen started to blink; as if it tried to start but actually never did.
I re started it several times and the blinking continued.
I would like to know why this happens, and what does the blinking mean. What should I do under these circumstances? How can re initiate the camera if it happens again?
Thanks!!!

You might try to remove all the cables attached to the camera. Give a minute, connect only the battery, and boot up. Once the camera's on, you can try to connect all the other accessories.

Hope this helps!

I already tried to disconnect all rthe cables attached to the camera and it didn't work either. Could this problem have something to do with the electronics of the camera? I'm in the middle of a shooting and need to solve this asap! Thanks...if somebody have any other recommendation its welcome!!!!

Perhaps you've already checked for this, but it could be as simple as low battery.

Good shooting and best regards,

Leo

Sometimes if the hard drive is close to capacity, the camera behaves in strange ways. Otherwise-tech support.

In case I manage to turn on the camera using the AC conector, should I reset everything and set it up again? If I do so, how can I upload the firware for Build 21, is this done through an SD card? Or is it done through a flashcard? I know I can download the firmware from internet, but I don't know how to place it in the camera right after I reset it complely.
Thanks very much!!

Firmware upgrades are done by the camera owner with password controlled access. Firmware is downloaded to the CF card and transferred to the camera on start-up.

The reset options in the menu are used to restore default settings for the installed camera build, generally used by rental companies after cameras are returned.

Try and start with everything disconnected, except power ;) that should tell you if the problem is internal. I've seen that when a power board died. If you are updating firmware for the first time please have the manual next to you when you do it.
