  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Urgent: Need Underwater Housing, Splash Bag or "Dry Suit" for Epic

Here's some pics of the 8" glass dome front port we spoke about. Because of the size and way it has to be mounted/sealed, it is actually a completely separate frontplate. It easily accommodates most of the likely suspects: Canon 10-22; Tokina 11-16 PL or Canon; Arri 8R; Red 18-50; Ruby 14-24, etc.

We have extenders that fit between the plate and the front of the housing, to allow perfect alignment of longer lenses as well.

My initial tests of our 3Deep(TM) housing for S3D indicate that my new design will have about 10 times higher edge resolution than Deep Atom. We are currently testing a single camera housing with a target price under $20k. Availability about December. No pictures or renderings will be published until the housing is available for immediate purchase. Expect unexpected :)

As for single camera housing that is available now, my RED One/Epic housing with titanium CinePort(TM) is the only wide angle housing out there that can resolve 4k. Most ports I have tested do not resolve more than 500 line pairs. Also, CinePort(TM) produces dramatically higher contrast than any other underwater optics.

Pawel how could you possibly know that seeing Deep Atom has not been released?

Pawell, how can we test your claims about the resolution of the various ports? Do you use a projector to test such things?

Hi Tom, Yes, I have built a couple of underwater lens projectors. I just snapped quick pictures of them (sorry for the dog's hair dress, he needed an emergency hack after his adventure in the thistles). The straight projector is to evaluate centre resolution, calibrate lens focusing scales and set back focus. The angled one is used to measure edge resolution at 45 degrees (90 degree angle underwater), check field curvature, measure and measure chromatic aberrations. Both tubes can be used to either project the lenses or shoot the charts. The clear optical acrylic bottom has almost the same refractive index as water and charts can be placed behind it.

As soon as I get my Epic I will post various results. For the time being I have been eye-balling the charts and I get very excited at what I see :w00t:
