I have a shoot tomorrow morning at 9:30 am PST, Burbank, CA.

I need a cable to go OUT of the RED and into a panasonic BT-LH1700WP LCD monitor.

Is there a cable possible to do this or do I need a converter box?

If there is a cable, where can I get it before 9:30am PST?

Any one feel like being a good samaritan and maybe want to watch two sexy girls make out?

It's just a standard composite BNC cable. Whoever has the monitor should have the cable. If you can't get one from somebody get some BNC to RCA adapters and just use a normal RCA video cable.

Thanks, so with the mini-bnc connector that came with the RED, I just need a male to male BNC "extender" cable to feed to the field monitor?

and the little red button starts the camera.

:gun:

RED One comes with a mini BNC to standard BNC adapter. A standard BNC cable should come with the monitor. If not, it should be something that a competent AC, DIT, camera tech, or sparky on the set could produce in about a minute. If it takes them longer than that, they're slow or they forgot their kit.

All of those Florian listed should have 3GHz+ coaxial cable and BNC connectors. Yes, even the RatShack. Make sure you buy a cable stripper and crimper. Should have them in your tool bag anyway.

Criminal! I had my asst. pick one up at Fry's. I was on the phone with him and he said "I have no 3ghz rated cables", just 75ohms, that's it. So I got that one, Its on the way back now, I hope it works. :/

I'm sure its 1ghz. he said it was for CCD. which is low res. This won't work will it?

It will probably work, what distance are you running?

Aiden,

Filmtools is in Burbank, right on Burbank blvd. just a couple of blocks from the freeway, and they open at 8:00.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Aiden.

If you find yourself hooking up this way more often, you should check out the ET Video Break Out Box. It attaches on top of those mini connectors on the RED and provides full-size standard BNC connections to hook up your cables to.

If I'd been closer I would have gladly hooked you up with a BNC cable. Maybe next time...

EDIT: I just noticed Florian already mentioned the Break Out Box (ET BOB).

aiden all kidding aside, careful that little adapter can come apart easily. id write more, except this keyoard does not type the second letter of the alphaet. wife cleaned it with clorox wipes...

You mean the little adapter that comes with the camera? I've never actually used it. Put an ET BOB on the camera, it's the only way to go. The ASL Gear BOB is cool too with the full-size XLRs, but it adds more bulk.

Thanks for all the useful info guys, and no thanks to all the useless info.

I got the CCD BNC cable from Fry's and it works great!
