Are there any field converters from either AJA or black magic that will upres in real time the 720p preview feed from the REDs to 1080p so that our 3D monitors will display an image that will fill the screen on set? They would be need to be small and powered by batteries.

We currently have a job with a Qtake that does it all in real time for us but not all jobs will have a set up like this.... Any ideas?

You didn't mention which 3D monitors you were using but assuming it wasn't the Hyundai or Astro because both of those have scalers built in. If you are using JVC or SONY or whatever else as your video village monitor then you will indeed need the scalers per eye. We have used ATLONA's in the past with no issues.

We ended up getting hold of a fantastic Qtake system and our playback/post guru got everything hooked up through the matrix and outputting several feeds at 1080p realtime. Cracking set up, the system itself knows when to start recording and stop witout pressing a single button, keeps the metadata, convergence adjustments for preview... Fantastic! We had 5 monitors on set, Panasonic at 2D for DP and in Anaglyph for stereograher, Hyundai and JVC monitors for circular pola viewing for director and crew, all in real time.... Well impressed.... Add a redrocket in another tower and we had all rushes trascoded at the end of each day for the editorial..... What an amazing set-up, right? To say they loved our services is a bit of an understament...

I am still searching for a solution for this until panasonic releases their 3D monitor. W shall buy some of those and possibly JVC if their new range proves to be good for crews on set.....

I would be happy to hear other optons though!
