Upgrade path beyond Stage 3... Is there one? If so what is it? I use to be under the impression a Red One could be traded in for a Monstro FF35. Is this still the case?

Thanks
Paul

Thanks Adam,

I (And I'm sure others) would be interested to know precise details soon if anyone from Red is reading only because if it's better to go Stage 3 then I won't be doing the MX upgrade but if the Epic Monstro is available and sounds like a worthwhile deal then I might consider doing the MX upgrade now since I imagine it taking surely more than a year to release the Monstro Epic lineup. I'm sure there are others who share my thoughts so hopefully it's in Red's interest to post this info asap.

Thanks
Paul

Yes Paul,

jim said that there will be an upgrade path path for the Epic FF35 which I think will also be for the Epic 645 and Epic 617, but will let Jim tell us in time.

Possibly with the Big Mid May announcement for Scarlet we might get more info about other Epic upgrades paths as well.

Since I am on a "severe" budget right now and unable to do round 2 and wonder if my situation will allow me to do 3, I am thinking the same thing here.

For me it is and it isn't about budget in certain respects. Just seems a waste of $5000 to put an MX sensor in if I'm going to hand the camera and sensor back to Red in a few months. I'd be doubtful the upgrade would pay itself off let alone turn a profit. Like with all these things it's something of a gamble but if it had a year or more for the monstro and the deal was good then I'd have no problem upgrading to MX on the R1 now and going that route.

Tight budget here too. I'm doing Stage 3 though. Hoping this year is much better than the last and that I can earn a living with my Epic.

I think the upgrade path beyond stage 3 has been clearly stated many times, Among others by Jim himself. It's called stage 4 : you can trade in your Red One body for a $17'500 credit towards an Epic brain, which ever one.

There has not been a mention as to a deadline, but it has been said, such options will not last forever. So I would expect as the future brains are announced and become available, cut off dates will be announced.

The Red One path to Monstro, is possible via stage 4. I seem to recall it being stated, there will NOT be an option to put a Monstro sensor in a Red One, but...

Thank you Red, for taking care of your clients !

Cheers,
Damien

PS Stage 2 was definitley the best upgrade path, then comes stage 3, and then the above mentioned option, which is stage 4, still great. I went with stage 2 !
