UPGRADE FIRMWARE FOR MY RED ONE

HiI bought a red one camra used. I would like to upgrade the firmware but I can not because the firmware is locked.
Www.red.com are registered on the site but do not know how to do.
I have to give the serial number of my red ??

The creepy question is:
Have you done an owner xfer?

I can kinda understand why you'd like to avoid that on a R1, but if the former owner was legit, he/she should be able to give you access.

Yes, legit prior owner can give you access, but you really need to do a proper owner transfer. This gives you the license for the software/ firmware. You have to give the serial number, etc.. and have the prior owner, or owner of record, grant permission to transfer. This is how RED maintains software licenses and also how they phase out stolen cameras.

I didnt do the ownership transfer either due to shipping cost from australia but i keep in contact with original owner so he can do the update for me. But just as Jeff said its to keep dodgey black market RED cameras from popping up and brings unhappy customers. RED truely has a good ownership program that benifits all users.
I probably won't transfer mine under my name yet but its a definite when i upgrade to epic one day.
