Just wondering if anyone has a sense of an updated shipping schedule. I saw one a while ago but it would be great to find out what the current status is.

Ian

Yes, especially for the upcoming batch of cameras. Jim mentioned they might be ready half of January but since that's less than 2 weeks I guess that's not going to happen?

What numbers are in that next batch?

They are delivering 101-300 now and up to 301-600 by end of Jan...

let them first get out cameras #101-300 and see how they do

I think the plan was 400 this month. . . and I suspect that that is a bit optimistic. I think they have delivered up to #300 now. I'd guess 300 in January, but we'll see. . .

Red can only handle so many service calls and still ship cameras. If there are many more Red's like #112, they'll need to mostly take care of sorting out the last batch. Don't forget that us first 100 are now the older cameras and need to be retrofitted. If all that goes well, then the 35 Red people can start shipping new cameras.

I'm not being pessimistic, simply urging everyone to wait a week or so to see how things settle before demanding a new schedule.

Sure Shawn. :-) Patience is a good virtue. The first one for any moviemaker, including any RED ONE shooter. Including the younger ones.

I have my #111 waiting for the dust settling down first. Only then I want my first camera RED ONE. A safe unit, a safe purchase definitely.

There can be other reasons. Yes, there are. Upcoming features to enable soon, we're starting up a new company etc. But I don't want my camera crossing the Atlantic only for seeing the owner and returning back to the factory. It's a waste of time and money.

Let's not speculate on behalf of RED. They are a company, shipping cameras is what they do so let them take care of it.

My camera (#441) is in the next batch and I would really like to know what to expect.

I would expect you will get a "no excuse" camera in January. Assuming you pay your bill... :-)

Cool! Uhm... I expect a "no excuse camera" is a good thing?

A very good thing...

Ians post wasn't that demanding Shawn, was it?

Since the cameras are in the production and some are delivered, a reliable delivery schedule should be around the corner.
It is important for those who actually build their business around the camera.
I personally don't know what to say to a producer (whom I sold the idea months ago) who is asking me if I'll be available with the cameras for March.
The maybe doesn't work.
Cheers

With the new Nikon mounts not being perfected (I'm not complaining...just sayin') and with a lot of Nikon mount users pushing their camera deliveries further back, it would follow that a lot of PL mount buyers could get an early surprise in their email inbox.

best guess...

best guess...

Someone made this theoretical schedule based on a previous post.

Jim had mentioned that they don't want to publish a new schedule because...well..."things change".

This is not an "official schedule" it is optimistic at best and based on a previous post;

#'s 200-600 delivered in January
#'s 600-1200 delivered in February
#'s 1200-1800 delivered in March
#'s 1800-2400 delivered in April
#'s 2400-3100 delivered in May
