Brent, Thanks for your answers here. Helps a lot understand what RED ARMOR is worth.

Just to put my request in. It seems that the warranty should transfer to the new owner. The camera/serial number doesn't change, and if we purchased the protection, it should apply until it expires, it seems logical and ethical. I might not be seeing something in the transfer process that makes RED refuse to do this, in which case, it might work for a lot of us to pay another $200 or something like that to transfer the camera to a new owner.

And of course, being able to buy the warranty within the year following the original purchase, would help us all spread all these costs. I have a calendar, and can make use of it :)

Much appreciated. Best!

Yeah, we revisited that. Feedback from customers was that if they were going to do RED Armor, it was going to be at time of purchase. After that, out of sight, out of mind. They would forget to buy it later in that year. This way, we won't have those "S**t, I forgot to buy RED Armor and my original warranty just expired" situations. Plus, the logistics and bandwidth to get in cameras within original warranty period to eval, offer RED Armor, etc was a lot. Not to mention, the camera coming in for eval means it is not in your hands, shooting. Just tried to make it cleaner and more respectful of your time and our time.

Any chance used Epics could get certified for red armour if sold to a third party, can't think of a single reason why you wouldn't offer this service?

just asking again, because I still think there is some confusion between what the official RED Armour email said (about having a year to get RED Armour etc) and what is being said here on reduser.

EPIC X owners have a year warranty. If they sell the camera that warranty is gone. EPIC owners can get RED Armour. Do they have a year to pay for it? do they need to pay for it before the end of 2011?

if an EPIC is sold, the original 1 year warranty is gone, and the new EPIC owner can get RED Armour? or the new owner can not get RED Armour?

cheers
Mike

All the answers are in this thread:
If you already have your EPIC-M (or EPIC-X), you need to contact your BOMB SQUAD rep by the end of 2011 to get RED Armor.

If you have an open order / want to place an order for EPIC-M or EPIC-X, RED Armor must be purchased before order processing begins (easiest is ordering same time as the brain).

Not transferrable at this time, no.

And just to add to the inquiry - what happens to RED Armor if the original owner upgrades to Dragon in a year or so?

Thanks.
