  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

hi all, i have been on production for last 6 months, and did not have a chance to follow whats the status of epic camera delivery. i know about the features, Nd hdr and everything. question is more about the release date. i do understand that there is no official info about this, but if you follow reduser, recon posts especially, you should have a feeling or or prediction about it, so what is yours? when do you expect Epic will be released? and why?
 
October 31st, a week from now, to coincide with last year's announcement, with a new Red website launched this weekend to pave the way. In any case, I feel there has to be something planned for next weekend, if only another announcement about the date, which should be fairly soon anyhow as everything seems to be in order.
 
Its impossible to say, but if you aren't in with the EPICx or are not a Red1 owner its not likely be before December-January. It all depends on the Tattoo program and then fulfilling the orders of the current RED1 owners.

This is pure speculation mind as RED are keeping quite tight lipped at the moment. RED could come out next week and say "right first batch of EPICx will be shipping out tomorrow".

I have been saying all along that it would be next year at best. Since we're so close to November... I think NAB is going to be the launch point now.

God how I would LOVE to be wrong...

But I do not think I am...

I don't think it is far away. By the end of this month, we might be given approximate delivery date. And that is what we need, JUST A APPROXIMATE DATE. It will add that extra fun to our wait which we have been missing for a while.
 
One of RED's confessed mistakes with their prophetic estimations in the past is paying heed to engineers' 'window' estimations. I would not expect an estimation at all, and probably more than an approximation when the time comes.
