During a Log and Transfer session two clips continually fail with a red stop sign/exclamation icon which reads "unknown error".

I am unable to find "log and transfer" info in the FCP documentation.

I've lurked these forums lightly, and seen this problem addressed a few times. in every instance the issue was an out of date REDCODE. Mine is current.

the other footage is transcoding to ProRes fine. just two shots off this same mag are giving me problems.

The queue bar which tracks the transcode progress reaches the end, it appears that the process is complete, then the proccessing animated icon is replaced by the exclamation point and the prores .mov on my scratch disk is deleted and the operation fails.

any ideas?

Try shifting your in and out points and see if this makes a difference. We've seen some anomalies and believe we have a fix which is in testing now.
