Then you get into the mid to high end dedicated tools that provide a colorist lots of precision, high quality, and the big one - Realtime.
If you have talent in color science and manipulating images, you'll get great results with just about any tool. You'll also need a calibrated display so that your decisions are represented accurately.
I think Color is really great for certain projects. It's basically free, and when paired with a card like the Kona 3 and a quality display you can get terrific results.
I think things are about to get very exciting once Final Cut Studio 3 is released, and it can take advantage of the Red Rocket. This has potential to be a very viable finishing solution.
