Hi folks, just asking for a friend. Wondering if anyone shooting scarlet underwater can chime in with regards to the batteries they use if other than a red brick? I have a friend on the cusp of kitting himself out with the full underwater equipment and he's wondering on this point.

Cheers,
Mark.

Hey Mark,

I use Global Media Pro 160 kwh, work great, last about 3 hours, probably the most economical option. I have had great service from them too.

Global Media batteries are great. Never have any problems with them. For taking on board the airplane get the Li190BS-R Buddy Battery. You could split them into two (90WH) for less hassle. Uses same charger as the other batteres. Some housing such as Gates Deep Epic will need the battery tray lowered to accommodate this one. Red brick is okay too.

cheers

David

FYI: Our housing accommodates both the REDVOLT RED PRO battery module with either REDVOLTS or REDVOLT XLs (which give 90 watt hours) - as well as almost any of the brick configurations - RED, Switronix, Anton, etc.

Pro battery module gives the simplest configuration with no cables, and the modules are pretty cheap on the resale market since most Stage 2 epic buyers received their cameras long before the battery module so had to purchase bricks to make their epic work.

All of our housings can use dual or quad REDVolt modules or V-lock batteries.

As Michael said: dual and quad modules make space more managable. But, V-lock battery plates work well too. I personally use Red Bricks and GMP 160 Wh. Both work very well.

Swit 8172 its the only battery of its size you can fly legally as you can split the battery in to two halves. The smaller batteries are too short a run time for normal dive use. They also fit a Gates housing perfectly.
