  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Undead or Alive - subtitled

Hi Karl-
not a zombie-fanboy but liked the hand-held work. Did you use any steadi-assistance with the forest walk? oop - seeing credits now: Glidecam. Nice work. Went a bit quick from no zombies to zombies-everywhere for my taste as far as suspense goes. Think there is something to horror about what the audience does NOT see. That and I didn't need all the aerials of the Bus on the opening credits. Once it was established, I would have been happy to see shots of it from the ground.
Looks like it was fun to produce. Zombies in the Fatherland? who knew? Congrats!

thanks stu...its my first mid-long-one:) we only had 5 days to shoot and 14 days for all the post / sfx,vfx...sound.mix etc....all the stuff. scarlet did a great job. sometimes act a bit bitchy but solid at all!
in november weather is very dynamic in germans woods...special in "odenwald" so we had to shoot the walking scene in the woods from shoulder...so it is :))

but cool that you watch it from start to end. its only a prolog for a book. you right at many points. the no zombies-all zombies scene is of course a bit toooo fast but ...what ever. happy to shoot the next one.mmmm
bus credit scenes could also been shot in canada or alaska ;)

thanks

Not criticizing! walk in woods looked GREAT.
If you have behind-the-scenes photos of crew and rig that would add to Scarlet user enjoyment here I think. And any stories or info you learned while using it as you did.
EVERYone will like to see your work but RED guys (and gals) here will want the background story too....

Respekt, Leute! Und das alles in dieser kurzen Zeit ... Hut ab! Wirklich gelungen.
Terratec Cube?

true ...
some insight into your lighting would be nice .. if you shot the whole thing in 4 Days i guess there wasnt exactly much time
to set up extensive lighting for every single shot, innit? ... the pictures look really great ... bus & wood scenes are really pretty ;-)

hello sascha, thanks...it was a lot of fun in the woods ;) in the bus we had no lighting. we shot almost everything on ISO 800 with f2.8. sometimes we used the super speeds to have more light :P. in school we used 2x 2.5KW HMI, 4x 1,2KW HMI. 2x575, 1x200W HMI and double of that in tungsten fresnel from ARRI. school was not the most beautiful school in the world but really normal and near the wood...it was all in a radius of 10km so easy to shoot in this short time. for wireless we used terra deck cube. our co-production af marcotec supported us a lot with all this nice gear :) latency on wireless is more than nothing but you can stream also to another iPhone or a second iPad. on the newest should be less latency.
