I recently pulled together some parts to make myself an ultraportable DIT/DMT station
It consists of:
13 inch MBP (non retina)
Sonnet Qio E34
Sonnet Expressport thunderbolt adapter
USB 3.0 hub
APC UPS (8 port)
Pellican 1560 case

This setup can take almost any memory card under the sun (Except REDmags, but every rental place in the city has a card reader come with their kits) and read them at some pretty nice speeds.

Open and ready to transfer cards!

EDIT: This will be going under some changes soon. I am going to return the Qio since the P2 card readers don't work, and replacing it with some other card readers and a 4TB RAID

You might want to include some sort of laptop riser in the Pelican David. To keep the Macbook off the foam. I've been having a lot of troubles lately with my Mid 2011 Macbook Pro and heat. It sits on a desk with a laptop cooler/riser. I'd hate to see any footage corrupted due to the computer acting funny while hot. Looks cool though.

The setup went through some changes since I first posted. First I got a laptop fan and then, over time (As of today actually!) I gave the whole setup a complete makeover.

As you can see, I got rid of the Qio; simply because of lack of use for it, really. It is a nice peice of kit, but I realized that I could not justify the cost and returned it. The UPS IS still there! It is just underneath the cover, which hinges out to reveal it, allowing me to plug in production drives and the like.

This redesign also allows me to actually have a place to keep the production drives, and the foam core is a bit more solid, allowing my macbook to keep nice and cool!
