I was just wondering if anyone in the UK fancied teaming up to buy certain items in bulk, mostly accessories.

For instance, I've found a place in the UK that sells Storm cases and you get 30% off if you buy 3 or more. I'm looking at the IM2950 which is the equivilent to Pelicans 1650

It usually costs £236.27 and with the saving it'd be £165.39 Inc VAT and Del (A saving of £70.88)

I'm sure there will be a number of people wanting to buy the same products and they will often come from all over the world, and can often include discounts if ordered in bulk and discounts on delivery and so on. If anyone sees any products or offers I for one would love to hear about them and buy in bulk with others from the UK.

I'm sure others from around the world would be interested in doing this but since I'm from the UK it makes little sense for me to buy in bulk with people elsewhere in the world. It might be worth starting a thread for your individual country and perhaps we could make a community bulk thread for advertising good bargains we find here or there.

Hi Paul

Nice idea. I did noticed that the storm case weighs a lot more than the Peli case empty thats why I went with Peli.

Every kilogram counts on the airlines these days.

Hmm... perhaps some are and some aren't Rory, the two comparitive cases I posted before have the Storm case at 9.5kg (20.8lbs) empty and the Peli at 13.2kg (29.1lbs) empty. Plus the storm case is ever so slightly larger.
 
Storm cases are great, and you are right, Paul, they weigh a little less than their Pelican equivalents.
Hope you get that 3 - bulk price, seems worth it!
 
Well there is little point buying anything until when people start receiving the cameras so it won't be for a while I guess. But in the mean time if anyone finds anything that can be imported cheaper or bought in bulk it'd be worth noting it down here for others to see.
 
Global Media Pro told me that you can get a 10% discount if you place an order for their batteries over 3000 USD (About £1500). With their 190Wh at £184 ($333) that'd be a minimum of 10 to order. Not a great saving to be honest, but if people wanter 4 or more it'd be close to £75 ($150) cheaper. About £660 before VAT for 4 190Wh batteries.

Alternatively I have a contact who can supply direct from China, the highest they do is 150Wh, look exactly the same as the GMP ones and are infact the same ones sold by Batteries4Broadcast.com. I have some prices but obviously with duty, vat, delivery it could be here or there. For two 150Wh batteries and a dual charger/power supply it costs about $400 before any of the above. 4 Batteries + 4 way charger looks to be about $760 with an estimate on postage of about $170. This is all subject to change of course but represents a feasible budget option. Testing the batteries at some point would be advantageous.

Problem is that at the moment because we don't have enough information on the batteries power supply/cutoff and so on it's impossible to say if they will be good enough at the moment.

And count me in 2 sound like it needs a website a system of queuing up people and then sending
the order once the requiste number had been reached..

The money side might be a bit tricky ie money up front sitting in someone elses bank a/c for
a long time....or could once the required number was reached a quick email to check if people
were interested then payment sent...

And of course if there was enough members then it would have the clout to negotiate to arrange
reductions....

If it's cheaper batteries you are after you might look into the Rhino Power guy at Pinewood. My only problem with the ones we've had, as opposed to the Enduras, is that the actual V is made of plastic rather than metal and so is vulnerable (ie someone has broken all ours!) but it may be something they have improved. Also they can't be piggy backed, but that tends to be the same with all the cheaper V-locks.
