David,

You're welcome! I didn't realize that it was yours, thank you for posting it. I haven't really found anything new from either Sound Devices or Zaxcom lately. So anything that you can provide would be greatly appreciated by everyone who visits this thread.

Thanks again!

Remote VO record through phone line with sound devices 833

"If you need to run a recording session where you locally record the voice of somebody but the director or the person asking the questions need to be remote for whatever reason this is a handy method for doing such a thing. In this instance due to the covert pandemic the director could not be in the same room as the person answering the questions. For this reason it was useful to bring them in on a FaceTime call and have the person answering the questions on the local voice-over mike to be wearing headphones listening to the conversation. It will also be useful in the edit to hear the questions being posed. "

Replacing The Real-Time Clock Battery in a Sound Devices 633

Is there any 32-bit recorder that's low-cost, but gets the job done with noise-less phantom power, long battery life, and timecode?

I'm aiming for recording without much gain input (so it needs 32-bit recording), but still have a virtually noise-less recording with a high-quality result. The problem with sound devices is that their battery life seems to be pure shit in every product I've encountered.
Zoom seems to do much better in terms of battery life, just look at their new F2 recorders. They lack high audio quality though, especially their mics.

I can't seem to find any good field recorders that work with timecode, long battery life, 32 bit and phantom power without it costing like a camera.

Chrisroffer,

The Zoom F2-BT, Zoom F6 has most of what you asked for. But as far as being able to get the job done in a professional level sound recording that another question.

The Sound Devices Sound Recorders are 32bit and have some of the best preamps around along with many innovative sound recording features. You really kinda get what you pay for

Yes, it's pretty much something between Zooms and Sound Devices I'm after. Problem is that Zoom F6 doesn't seem to have the good preamps that Sound Devices has, but Sound Devices doesn't have the long battery times that Zooms have.

So... is there any Zoom with preamps as good as Sound Devices? Or any Sound Devices with as good battery times as the Zooms?
