Hi!

In the near future, will it be possible to run two RED LCDs at the same time? I am thinking of buying two LCDs if this is (or will shortly become) possible.

Thanks!

Um. I guessing probably not.

The RED only has one port for the LCD and one for an EVF. They look the same but I was lead to believe that the functionality was different.

Currently you can run a RED LCD from the LCD port and an external monitor, or 3rd party LCD off the video outs on the camera (HD-SDI and preview ports).

I was hoping that in the future you might run a LCD off the EVF port?

I am using 2 monitors on camera but not the Red LCD. I am coming out of the HDMI port to power the carrion monitor. I also have an HDMI splitter that allows me to power the carrion and a client preview computer monitor.

Also check out the element technica prototype accessories for the anton bauer and hard drive!

This was an idea brought up to us by Mark at OFF HOLLYWOOD. We are already working on it. Two of RED's LCD's running off the one LCD output. Marks biggest request is to have the ability of running at least one of the splits to an LCD that maybe 25+ feet away (a directors run and gun monitor). Prototype parts are on order and we will be posting the results as soon as we can.

So that means we will be able to run two LCDs off one LCD port AND one EVF as well? Three RED monitoring options at once?

I am anxious to hear more, especially since it seems your solution won't cost a lot.

Multiple outputs.

Multiple outputs.

You can't split the RED-EVF or RED-LCD ports, as each one looks for, powers and interacts with their respective devices.

Also the camera will NOT support a RED-LCD on the RED-EVF port, but it potentially COULD support two RED-EVF's.

For one RED-EVF plus two monitors with menus, try putting a splitter on the HDMI port, with that set to MENUS (DVI) mode.

the camera checks what monitoring solution it is connected to and drives it accordingly/powers it up, gets commands back from the buttons etc.
two monitors cannot give feedback at the same time, but as long as the electrical power is enough I'd guess it should be possible to blindfold the comms connections and only stip out the visual and power lines from the cable for the second monitor while the back communication is done by the first monitor. All assuming that 2 identical devices are attached.

agreed.

how do you power a computer monitor when shooting outdoors?
