Hi

I was wondering if there was a way to update firmware on the TVlogic VFM-056wp

I have two problems with mine,

The SDI in/out doesn't work which is not good.
The HDMI works just fine, the Loopthrough HDMI>SDI doesn't work, and when there is signal, it is jammed, like with a camwave wireless transmitter too far away.
The SDI regular loopthrough doesn't work either.
The XLR 4 pin doesn't work.

Maybe it's a firmware related problem as mine is v0.0.0.6, it looks rather old to me.

For the XLR 4 pin, I have
Epic >> Action Product Appollo >> Pure4C 2pin lemo-Mini xlr4 for TVLogic >> TVLogic 056.
nothing is happening when I turn it on. No power. I'll test the entry and the cable this afternoon though.

Anyone had these issues ?

Call TVLogic. As far as I know you have to send it to them for firmware updates. But it sounds like a hardware issue to me as I've had mine for about a year now and the SDI loopthrough always worked. HDMI-SDI loopthrough was added later though.

Dont know if this might be part of the problem. I think it only accepts Psf not P standard HD input. I was told there was an update on the way to fix it.

According to TV Logic, the monitor will accept either 1080p and PsF:

Did yours arrive this way or did it suddenly change? I've used it no problem on Epic and Red One, was about to buy one this week until I found this.

Hi

I've bought it second hand, but I knew the guy before... and I know he used it with his 5D only, so he never even plug the SDI once...

To be precise, mine is labelled as a VFM-056w BUT has all the functionality of the VFM-056wp. I think it's an early version or something.
I've contacted TVlogic through their website, I hope they can track what version it is with the serial number.

I know the early 071's appear to have issues with P signals, may be there is a later firmware up grade. Our early 071's won't work with a 5D

The W model is the base model and does not have HDMI-SDI loopthrough. It also does not have the waveform/vectorscope, range error, Y level check, tally light, or 3G input. Those are all WP model features. That could explain why those features aren't working. Not sure about the 4-pin XLR though.

I just had mine updated last week (they are a 10 min drive from my place). Current firmware is:

Gen_V 0.0.1.0
FPGA_V 0.0.1.2

Mike is correct.
Look for an authorized distributor/dealer (available on the website), they will have the device to update the firmware. (super easy, and takes less than 5 minutes).

The housings will always only say 'VFM-056W'. I have 2 of them and they both say 'W' but has WP functionality. It's a firmware / FPGA thing that allows for HDMI-SDI loop-through.

But your case sounds like bad hardware.. SDI should always work.. Mine was on V 0.0.0.6 and everything worked. (Silly but did you check the 'input' selection)?
Did you turn on HDMI-SDI loop-through in the menu? (also a silly but important question)

Check the Mini-XLR pin-out. Make sure whoever wired it knows the pin-out as it is a little different. The guy that i got to make my cables almost reversed the polarity.. I THINK, pins 1 and 3 are +, and the connector jacket is -. Not 1 and 4 like regular XLR connectors..

Thanks for all your answers.
I did choose the right input and turn on the hdmi>sdi loop.
It must be hardware I guess.

I bought this cable

At the bottom of the page, Alexa 2pin >> tv logic 4pin Xlr.
As I have the Appollo it's compatible. I asked the guy at pure4c.
