What are the best, and least expensive, options for tripods for a Red camera? My film is going to be shooting in a little less than a month and this is the last piece of equipment we need.

That depends a lot on the lenses and accessories you will be using. The heavier your camera, the better the tripod you'll need.

Another thing to keep in mind is that tripods tend to hold their value, and last for a long time. Investing in a high quality tripod can give you years (if not decades) of trouble free service.

are you getting a Red One or an Epic/Scarlet? Epic/Scarlet won't require as heavy duty a tripod as you might want or need for the Red One... Figure out your average camera weight and test some tripods out to see how you like them.

I went with a Miller Arrow 55. It's great and can handle almost any payload I'd ever need to throw at it. Awesome for Red One. If I was buying brand new for Epic/Scarlet, it's possible I might have picked a different set of sticks.

good luck!

My trusty Cartoni Gamma has worked great with the RED and primes. Not quite beefy enough to handle a big zoom, though.

I am using a Manfrotto 526 head + 350 tripod. the kit is under $2,000. The head is 100mm and support camera up to 30lbs. I think this is good for your budget.
