Trimming power cable

Hi Everyone,
My power setup right now is: Red one battery belt clip with long cable (http://www.red.com/store/products/battery-plate-belt-clip)
+ 2B-1B short cable (http://www.red.com/store/products/2b-to-1b-lemo-power-adaptor-cable).
I'm thinking trimming it. I have basic soldering skills. My plan is just to cut to a desired length (really short) and solder colour coded wires back. Did anyone try to do it? Thanks!

Personally, I would not. Just get an Epic battery mount and sell the Red One version and adapter cable. Or just keep both as a spare. Never know when you may need the longer cord. I have a 6 foot cable on mine and just keep it wrapped up.
