I looked through the manual but I cant still figure it out, how can I trigger a ramp the frame rate on command while recording (not when I start recording, but when I want to ramp)? Do I need some external device or can I set a user button for the trigger?

Muchos Gracias!

Hi Hunterrichards,

Sean is looking up (I think) somewhat the same question for me. But insted of frame rate I'm wondering if one can program shutter ramp. Do you know if there is a copy of the operational manual available on Reduser here?

thanks,

I fairly certain at least currently this can only be done with the use of third party GPI triggers. Someone was making one, have to do a search. There was some talk of having the side record button be an interal GPI trigger so that you could do what it is you're talking about.

I've always wondered. What's the advantage to ramping vs. shooting all slow-mo and speeding up the section that's supposed to run normally in post?

Being afraid to touch the wrong pin, I'd rather do it with a cable, but basically a GPI-trigger is just closing a contact.
An in-camera ramp looks much more natural than anything in post, give it a try.

Regards,

Uli

>>>Alot cheaper to do it in camera (more so with film) then to fix it in post.

Can this really be the only reason not to shoot it all slow-mo and ramp in post? Film is usually a pretty low-dollar item on a bigger budget feature or commercial. Plus, it's not a concern with Red, so why short things out with paper clips?

There are the "do it in post" people and the "get it right in camera" people. I'm a "get it right in camera" person.

P.s. I'm not sticking a paper clip in my Red until I see someone else do it first.

I will stick a paper-clip in your Red. Bring it to me.
