I usually carry on 2 Epics with me in the plane without batteries.

I read this a while earlier:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/07/06/us/tsa-security-measures/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

does this means we'll have to carry a brick or 2 with me? Or perhaps a charger...

In addition I like to hear how most people here travel.

I like to travel to Africa, Australia, China to say at least with the 2 Epics, beamsplitter, 2 Sigmonsters, the 120 exe Oconnor etc.

How you people travel heavy like that? I like also to hear any horror stories. Last year I have a serious argument in the plane from Paris to Athens, they wanted me to put my bag with 2 Scarlets a 788t etc at the cargo. After arguing and threatening for 20 minutes I got it my way...

I was asked several times in Europe and in the States to turn on my stills camera and take a photo. Even to take the lens off the camera so he could check there was nothing in the lens... he just wanted to look trough the glass...
The weirdest looks I get traveling with a drone and all those LiPo batteries with cables sticking out... and the funny thing is that making a short circut on LiPos is easy and they burn intense and you have to have them in carry-on so its kinda an easy bomb if you hook few of them together :D
Security is not always the smartest...
Oh and one more thing - Dont scare them with underwater housings... most of them have no idea what an empty piece of metal and glass is for and freak out and test it for drugs and explosive right away

Lakis I travel from Australia to Europe quite regularly with my Epic and never had any issues.
Dont get me started on all these new TSA regulations, as if flying isn't already a big enough pain in the neck.
Usually there are no problems and European airports in my experience are far more relaxed than anything I experienced over in the States.
If you don't want to carry big batteries....just pack a little red volt so in case someone wants you to show off the functionality of the camera....you can pop a red volt in the side handle and boot up the camera.
I usually also carry a copy of my RED invoices with me.....customs officers are usually very bored, very frustrated old men that can make your life very complicated if they got off on the wrong foot in the morning, but if you have the right paper work with you it makes life a lot easier and doesn't leave room for any uncomfortable "interpretations" on their side.

Dr. Dominik I do not use the side handle and the red volt although I own 2 I find them inconvenient I do all through the monitor but I must say I shoot only 3D. 1 Epic is easy but if you need to carry 2 and the 788t, 8 lenses x 2 = 16 some as big as this one: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/381605-REG/Sigma_595101_Zoom_Super_Telephoto_300_800mm.html about 14lbs each, the 120Exe O'connor http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/925478-REG/oconnor_c1226_0001_120exe_fluid_head_package.html then is different. I like to see how you people who travel long distances manage.

Does anybody uses Carnet?

Does it work for you or is better to travel independently.

I really don't want to lose a bag that is worth 2-300k even if it's insured and that's the start.

If the airline gives you hassle, just tell them you have a lot of LI-Ion batts, almost every single one of them attached, and since they can't be checked below the plane, they (at least in my experience), will ALWAYS make room for your bag. They don't want the liability if the plane blows up.

Make sure you check with different countries regulations with batteries/travel. It sucks to have your batts confiscated.

Always, always have your lithium batteries in your carry on. Do not check them in. I have heard of large fines being dealt to people that did so.

Try traveling with these Paglink Batteries...

They are IATA Approved and UN tested for all flights with no limit on what you can carry...

They are also stackable... You can stack them 8 high on one charger...

Here a review of them i found just yesterday...
