Any experience wth IDX CW-5HD on RED in playback? and preview?
Does battery indications on red still work?
I want to buy the system because i also have a SD camera with sdi out, but only want to buy if it works with my red one to.

Thanks Robert

Call Camalot Amsterdam, they have a few systems running.
Picture is perfect, no lagtime! But Camalot doesn't use the original RED battery-plates.

Thanks Joost, i still use the original battery plate, so i hope the lagtime still does work than. No surprises then.

I talked to IDX about it at NAB, the rep told me that it would not pass though the battery information.

Thanks, i could use the power out from red to the idx and so the battery information to the camera stays the same than. Shooting documentary you really want to know your battery status!

So how do you get it to work?

So how do you get it to work?

Chaps

Been trying to get this to work and no luck. I'm shooting 4K, 2:1, 24FPS. I have the playback option set to 720p and the hz to 50 (also tried 59.94). The wireless gets a link but with an amber light (no video signal).

I've tested the system via an sdi out on my edit suire and it works fine so it's not faulty transmitter/reciever.

What am I missing? Tried 2 cameras running release build 16 and no joy with both. Am I right in thinking that the wireless system can not handle a 24p signal (though I assumed it gets wrapped into the 50 or 59.94 720p).

Any help appreciated!

Cheers

Hi Jeff,

Did you tried on 25fps?
Does it work then or is it a problem because its in preview 720 50P.
Play back tried in 1080P?

love to know,

regards
Robert

I read the flyer now, try 23.98, because it does not show 24p.

The Origo "Remote Start / Stop" from View Factor is giving me useful battery status on Non Red batteries. Pretty stoked about it.

I got one of these systems and I believe we used it on 720P Preview out with running 4K 2:1 23.98 and it worked beautifully. I am very impressed at the quality. I have this system available for rent and am located in NYC. Check my website for more info.

Just thought I would give everyone an update on the new BOXX video assist system which is being released at the end of the year.

Hi Scott: Looking forward to this. If its possible, HDMI input on the transmitter and HDMI out on the receiver would seal the deal for me. Also, how is this going to work with the Scarlet's high potential frame rate? Finally, there is something screwy with the pdf of the brochure on your web site. It won't let me print it out. Price? Cheers

Problems at 25p

Problems at 25p

So, I have yet to test it fully, just got back from shooting, but I thought I would post and get an answer just in case my testing is fruitless. I had originally tested it at 24p, 4k 2:1, and it worked beautifully. But, since then we have been shooting at 25p, 4k 2:1. The picture and signal goes through, but it is steadily scrolling itself upwards. I thought it was a Hz problem, it's not, all settings match. Anyways, has anybody had this problem too? I'm about to find out if the problem is 25p or not, so I will repost with my results. BTW, I'm on a Panasonic BT-LH1700W.

I've had the problem with steadily scrolling upwards, I think it's a problem with interference because when the transmitter is in one part of the shop, it won't work, but in another part, it works fine.

We also created a mount to mount the transmitter on rods instead of on the battery plate so that power can be sent via Anton Bauer tap to the transmitter and battery info from the cradle still passes. That works well, and avoids any warranty issues that could be involved (according to RED Tech support).

So, after testing, here is what I found:

4K 2:1 @ 23.98 - Works Beautifully
4K 2:1 @ 24 - Scrolling Issue
4K 2:1 @ 25 - Scrolling Issue
4K 2:1 @ 29.97 - Works Beautifully

I do not see how this could be an interference issue, as I had the RX and TX less than 3 meters apart. My testing was in the same conditions the whole time, so to me, it seems like a compatibility issue.

I will talk to IDX if I need to, but before I do, does anyone know of a solution to be able to use this while shooting at a 24 or 25 framerate setting? What causes this issue? Is it an IDX problem, or a RED problem? Thanks for anything.
