Transformers 3/Arri Alexa

Say bye to Fox, Welcome to Alexa? (lol)

just with the rate of how exponential these transformers/michael bay film budgets are getting, they might as well just go balls to the wall, and up the ante all the way and go full IMAX 65 mm 3d, and do every expensive work around possible to accomdate the rig. then we'll have a yearly VS on who can spend more money, Bay or Christopher Nolan.

Hate to burst bubbles here - Transformers 3 is being shot on film, 35mm... I know most of the camera dept. and 3 of the LOST guys/girl is on Transformers 3. FILM. Panavision with some 235/435...

If you read the article that the OP posted, it says the guy working on Pirates 4 here in HI, he says they will shoot 3D THROUGHOUT production. Nothing about it being a 3D production. Most likely, the action seq will have some third dimensional crap...

I heard that after all they turned to the newest iphone 4G 3D rigs because of their enormous mobility, also extreme low cost, everybody is excited about pretty fast on the phone like a direct-to-edit opportunities and attractivity towards (totally doomed) storyline...

I have to say, the photo of Bay in that link looks like a good photoshop of adding in the alexa... don't know if I'm just imagining that

The S3D rig with the Alexa, has not been yet a successful experience, not with that particular rig, which brought some issues with the casing and the lenses configuration used, obviously we are talking about Vince here, so his team will find a solution to the rig to be adjusted precisely for the Alexa's.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4 it is the one shot in S3D, the article is just but confused in the title and in hits content, also we obviously know that any reference of Alexa and POTC4 in the same article, means nothing as POTC4 his been currently shot with 4 Red ONe MXed S3D rigs, 8 Red total on S3D rigs plus 2 on call ;~) of which my buddy from NY has sent two and I'm replacing one.

You got some inaccurate information. From the press release:

Concurrent with product roll-out is the pioneering use of ALEXA by PACE on the forthcoming 3D motion picture The Invention of Hugo Cabret, directed by Martin Scorsese, which entered principal photography on the 28th of June with Robert Richardson, ASC as cinematographer. PACE, a key technical partner for ARRI and the first customer worldwide to take delivery of ALEXA, is supplying cameras, lenses, stereoscopic systems and a new generation of 3D rigs designed around the camera.

Commenting on his investment in ALEXA, Vince Pace, CEO, stated “PACE is excited by ALEXA’s roll-out into the new age of stereo cinematography. Our commitment to the industry is centered around the fact that the new trend in 3D has to be built on a strong 2D legacy. ARRI has done just that, delivering a camera with both technical and creative performance that raises the bar for digital cinematography. For a DP, the camera delivers on increased dynamic range and sensitivity to help make the transition to 3D seamless. For PACE, supporting a unique film like Hugo Cabret in 3D with ALEXA is important, and we are proud to be involved.”

Also stay tuned for rather exciting and informative Transformers 3D / Alexa update. Keep in mind Michael Bay uses many many cameras and configurations on a movie like Transformers.

Thanks Michael.
Nice to see you're still hanging around here.

Much apprechiated.

I think I may have a look at the big A next week. Lookin' foreward to it.
