Can one transfer 2048x1024 (2:1) to 720x480 (4:3) Dbeta through Kona & Preserve Aspect Ratio? Kona specs say "Letterbox: image is reduced with black top and bottom added to image area with the aspect ratio preserved", yet others say you need to put 2048x1024 on a 1080 timeline. So the question is, does Kona only letterbox a 1080 frame or can it letterbox 2048x1024 into a SD 4:3 frame properly? Do I need to treat it in any way?

Also, would like output letterbox to be preserved on a 4:3 TV. Should I transfer as anamorphic or 4:3 letterboxed?

One simple way is to transcode the 2K (and above) footage to 1920x1080 with Fit Height option. It will put the blacks top and bottom. Then, you can output
to DigiBeta via Kona with letterbox option.

I don't think Kona can handle proper down-rezing from non-broadcasting format during the tape out.
