Quick question... I bought my Scarlet used about six or seven months ago and I'm still stuck on 2-something firmware and it's a little buggy at times (glitchy in low light, sometimes it overtakes my favorite lens and cycles it open and closed twice before changing its F/stop even though the lens is on 'manual'). I've finally gotten around to the transfer of ownership so I can just update this firmware and I really do want to make sure everything good to go on the inspection.

I have a shoot where I have to fly out in two weeks but this process seems to be taking a lot longer than I expected with the back and forth with the paperwork. My concern is that I started the paperwork side of it about two weeks ago and it's still not done... just waiting for confirmation so I can pay for it then I can drop it off.

My question is... how long has it taken you guys to get your camera back? If it takes about two weeks for the paperwork, I'm really concerned that the 'one week' it takes to inspect and all of that good stuff might take longer, especially with the line of people getting Dragons. I think I can squeeze it in that two week window, next Monday... I'm hoping.

Oh... also, do you know if, when you pre-pay and you haven't turned the camera in... can you update the firmware at that time, until you drop it off...? I was thinking, maybe I can just pay it, update the firmware, do the shoot, then quickly drop it off for the inspection.

Thanks!

I got the transfer and the inspection. Once paperwork and payment were completed, I think they got it done in 3 or 4 days, then sent it back overnight. I got it in a week.

I did not try to update the firmware when I was waiting to send in my camera, so I couldn't tell you for sure, but I will say I did have access to the downloads before I sent the camera in, so i'm sure you could, but I would just send it in and get it checked out first.

Okay, that's great to know. It's awesome that, in LA, I can drop it off in Hollywood and (for no charge) they'll bring it to Irvine for free and back... instead of me shipping it in or having to drive it all the way to Irvine.

Three or four days is great to know though... I think I'll go ahead and try to get it in before this shoot.
