Have spent the last day and a half trying to transcode some footage we shot on Monday and have run into issues with both RedRushes and RedAlert. I can see the clip perfectly in RedAlert so I am thinking the Redcode files are good but when I go to render them out of RedRushes - half the time the renders will fail and then the other half the footage will start to stutter and repeat itself over and over again like a record until the end of the Quicktime. I tried transcoding out of Quicktime with the proxy and met with fatal errors and then also tried rendering out of After Effects using the proxies and got similar issues.. mainly a flickering of footage and black frames until the movies finally went completely black.

I downloaded the newest builds as well as updated all my system software and can not for the life of me figure out what is causing this. Any suggestions or insight into this would be GREATLY appreciated as my editor is waiting for the footage.

1. Does the proxy playback fine ?
2. By loading the R3D into RED Cine, any skip frame /black & flickering from the original R3D ?
3. Did you try another Mac ?
4. What about regenerating the proxy and re render it
5. Try use Compressor ?

1. Sometimes they will go green.. sometimes black.
2. I did not try RedCine but in RedAlert it looked correct.
3. Tried my laptop and had similar issues. Was able to get it rendered at the editorial house. I know they are running older builds of the RED software and I updated to the most recent builds Tuesday thinking that would help the going green Quicktimes.
4. Will need to try this though rendering straight out of RedAlert and RedRushes from the R3D file gave me the same problems.
5. Did not try compressor. Added the RED plugin to After Effects and now After Effects seems to be seriously hosed. Seems like their is some conflicting software somewhere though not totally sure where at this point.
