Hi guys,

This is my first post in here but i’m a long time reader of the forum (maybe someone will recognize me from Facebook). I’m also a Red Camera user since 2010, first with Red One and then with Scarlet and Epic, so it was time to become part of the community for real.
As my first post it’s a pleasure to share with all of you the trailer of a feature documentary that i’m producing with my company. We’re working hard on this project since early 2016 and i’m now really happy to share some footage with everyone.

“Il mago di Lodi – The wizard of Lodi” tells the life of italian scientist Paolo Gorini, almost unknown petrifier of dead bodies and inventor of the modern crematorium. In the background, a rethinking of the taboo of death and the small city of Lodi, in which he lived most of his life and where today the myth and cult of the “wizard” persist in contradictory and unexpected ways.

Here’s the trailer, opinions are welcome :yesnod:

The film is directed by Silvia Onegli (my wife and business partner) and shot by me. It's now in post-production and will be finished this summer then we will see what happens with distributions. If you'd like to know more here's the website.

Thank you very much for your patience, see you in this pages!

Looks like a technically well-made documentary, with interesting creative and philosophical elements included in the telling of the 'story'.

Does the documentary also attempt to give a definitive 'just the facts' historical account of the characters and events? From the trailer and teasers I find it difficult to know what to expect from the complete documentary.

Hi Les, thank you very much for your feedback, we're trying to do our best with the budget we have.

Yes, the film will tell the story of Paolo Gorini with historical details, not just people's thoughts and experiences. We will talk about death but also about politics, arts, masonry, the city of Lodi and some of the most important events of that century. Everything through Paolo Gorini's life.
I don't think if we will write the end of this story (many information and documents are lost) but we're trying to do our best, also unfortunately just a small amount of people (maybe 3/4) has studied Paolo Gorini and some of them are still doing research... our production itself have found some prints and papers that were lost right after Gorini's death in 1881.
In the end the goal is to produce a documentary about a misterious man that worked with corpses but with a strong historical and scientific print, he was called "The wizard" by the people of Lodi but he was just a curious man with some shadows.

Thank you again for your time!

Hi all,

I'm reviving this topic because after many years (world even changed meanwhile...) we released our documentary. The film is currenlty available on Vimeo On Demand HERE and on Amazon Prime US & UK, looking forward to release it in Italy too since it is our country of origin.

Here's the final trailer of the film, very different from the first one I posted years ago but it reflects very well the "philosophical" side of the documentary.

Synopsis
The legacy of scientist Paolo Gorini, inventor of the modern crematorium mistakenly known as petrifier of dead bodies. In the background, a rethinking of the taboo of death and the small italian city of Lodi in which he lived most of his life and where today the myth and cult of the “wizard” persists in contradictory and unexpected ways.

The film has been shot on Scarlet-X and Scarlet-W, finished in 4K DCI. The streaming versions are both FullHD btw.

Many thanks for your attention.

Stefano
